Mentos enlists raccoons to help with recycling
Only 32% of Americans recycle according to studies by the Environmental Protection Agency. To address this shortfall, the confectionery company Mentos came up with a campaign featuring raccoons recycling waste. For this, the brand has devoted more than 40 hours to the training of animals. For example, a video ad from the company shows the raccoons at work and, until November 26, invites viewers to send an SMS to a special number, allowing them to ask the animals trained in recycling to visit their city. This is “a fun way to highlight how we can all do a little better, while learning from such a lovely and talented group of creaturess,” according to Craig Cuchra, vice president of marketing for Perfetti Van Melle, parent company of Mentos.
