Elon Musk is marketing a perfume to ‘help him buy back Twitter’

His latest fantasy. Billionaire Elon Musk said he sold thousands of bottles of a perfume called “Burnt hair”, marketed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. “Thank you for buying my perfume, so I can buy Twitter,” he tweeted, a unisex fragrance with the name meaning “burnt hair,” which retails for $100 each.

The businessman is supposed to reach an agreement to buy the social network for 44 billion dollars by the end of the month, failing which a trial must take place in November on this eventful operation.

He had made an acquisition offer accepted by Twitter at the end of April, before seeking to extract himself from it unilaterally at the beginning of July. The platform filed a complaint and Elon Musk finally assured last week that the transaction was really going to take place.

Already for more than a million dollars in sales

And this new product quickly met with success. “10,000 bottles of Burnt Hair sold,” he had already tweeted on Tuesday evening with a hilarious smiley face, before adding overnight from Wednesday to Thursday that the milestone of 20,000 units sold had been crossed.

His profile now displays the mention “perfume seller” to his approximately 108 million subscribers, and a link directs users to the product’s sales page, on the site of one of his startups, The Boring Company. “The essence of loathsome desire,” it read above a photo of a red vial of Burnt Hair.

The billionaire, also boss of SpaceX and Tesla, is used to jokes made viral by his many fans. He has already marketed in the past absurd products in reference to his various escapades and traits of humor.

“With a name like mine, it was inevitable that I would end up in the fragrance business — why didn’t I do it before? ! “, he still exclaimed on the platform.
