The owner of two parrots, found in a buried container, was sanctioned by the courts. She received a 150-day suspended fine for abuse and abandonment of animals, reports Saturday the “Tribune of Geneva”. Locked in a crate, the birds, sick, had spent two days underground, until a passerby gave the alert after hearing their cries. The firefighters then intervened.

The owner had denounced herself a few days after the facts, which occurred in June 2021, in Soral. After serving the Consumer and Veterinary Affairs Service with an early version involving a third party, she eventually admitted to police throwing the parrots in the buried trash can. According to her, they were suffering from an incurable illness. Collected at the Ornithological Center of Genthod, the two birds are doing well.
