In July 2020, an Italian couple opened their pizzeria La Bufala, in Pont-l’Eveque (Calvados), rue Georges Clemenceau. Amid and Angela Aouad had taken advantage of the first confinement to carry out a lot of work. Despite the pandemic, both restaurateurs remained positive. “It wasn’t easy, but we had to believe in it and we held on,” rejoices Amid Aouad.
“We are more reassured now, because we have gained the trust of local people. »
Angela, who insists on the importance of local customers, adds that “customers are happy to enter an Italian restaurant that is really Italian”.
Married since 2001, Angela and Amid Aouad are now starting the third season of La Bufala with new projects. In a room located right next to their pizzeria, they will offer an Italian delicatessen with take-out meals, and are looking for a salesperson for this. There will be fresh pasta and lasagna in particular.
“All cooked dishes will be cooked at La Bufala”, assures Angela Aouad, who also announces Sicilian cannoli, tiramisu and panna cotta among other delicacies.
The acquisition of new premises also allows La Bufala to offer, from September, formulas for dinner aperitifs, in the evening. “After 7 p.m., in Pont-l’Évêque, it is difficult to find a place to have a drink,” said Amid Aouad.
Italian products, including pasta, cheese, salads and charcuterie, will be offered. As for drinks, it will be possible to taste Italian wines and Italian beers, to be consumed in moderation of course.
The managers are also considering the arrival of a DJ to liven up the evenings.
