Several associations, including the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation, had denounced the pigeon trap installed on the roof of a building. The birds were released on Wednesday.
The pigeons trapped in Caluire-et-Cuire (Rhône) have been released. The birds had been trapped in a cage installed on the roof of a building in the town since August 3.
This trap, deemed “barbaric”, had aroused the excitement of residents and associations, such as Animal Dignity and the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation.
This Wednesday, the French Office for Biodiversity intervened at the request of the prefect of the Rhône, to note the non-conformities of the installation.
The trap will not be put back into operation
The trap could thus be opened and the birds were released. The owner of this installation has been fined, specifies the prefecture to BFM Lyon.
The syndic of the co-ownership had been contacted by Animal Dignity about ten days ago. The association had offered to collect the animals to place them in a shelter. A proposal that had been refused by the owners of the building.
The trap, now out of service, will not be restored to working order.
