Why is the Tesla Semi noisier than its competitors?

Finally revealed after 5 years of waiting, Tesla Semi, Elon Musk’s electric truck makes a lot of noise. And this, as much in the media as in the truck itself. The electric shines with its silence, why is this model so different from its competitors. Why offer an electric truck, what are the real advantages of this model? Tesla with its new electric vehicle intends to once again redefine the habits of this sector.

Pioneers in electric trucks?

Though You are here talking about his truck for more than 5 years, he is not the first to release an electric truck. Giants in the sector, such as Renault Truck, have already produced D Wide ZE. It is a model that is more suitable for urban environments and is used for waste collection. With the spread of EPZ and areas with limited traffic, this truck is welcome. It is a truck that offers a range of around 200 km for an output of just under 500 horsepower, which is more than enough for its use.

We also have Deimler beating out Tesla in the unveiling of its electric truck.

So why is Tesla expected then? Because it is Tesla, a car manufacturer that does not stop talking about him, and it is also one of the first models of heavy trucks intended for long trips.

Naturally, it aims to respond to problems related to ecology, but also to reduce or even eliminate the problems encountered with traditional thermal models.

A distinctive design from Tesla

If Tesla stands out from the competition, not to mention the motorization, it is thanks to it futuristic designs, even atypical for its models. The Tesla Semi doesn’t mind this rule.

With its sleek appearance, its aerodynamic lines, it looks like the head of a sports sedan in XXL format. The Tesla Semi looks like it came out of a science fiction movie, like the trucks in Will Smith’s “I Robot.”

This design so original was not chosen at random. The first reason is of course to bring originality to the sector. The second is purely technical, it is designed in such a way that it has an excellent CX (penetration coefficient in the air) to extend the autonomy of the vehicle.

A monster autonomy

Tesla still hasn’t communicated the size of the batteries in its truck, but we know there will be two versions.

The 2 versions of the Tesla Semi differ thanks to their autonomy, the first is announced for approx 480 km to $150,000 and the other near 800 km to $180,000. As a reminder, in one of the truck’s pre-launch test videos, a Tesla Semi traveled 804 km on a single charge.

In the specifications it was mentioned that the Tesla Semi had an average consumption of 124.3 kWh/100 km. By quick calculation, we can deduce that the battery in the long-range model is around 1000 kWh.

This truck can be unloaded Supercharger V4 by Tesla. We know that in order to get a peak of 1000 kW during recharging, these terminals will be equipped with new cables with a cooling system. It is estimated that up to 80% can be done in just 30 minutes.

Comfort, an important point in the specifications

To support the drivers during their long journeys, the interior of these trucks has been designed in such a way that the driver’s fatigue is reduced. Still with this goal of comfort and safety, it is autonomous driving system of the constructor returning to the charge. This will allow the driver to rest on certain stretches of road.

Last but not least is the silence on board this electric vehicle. Electric is a true synonym for relaxing driving, especially for long trips.

A quiet and noisy truck?

We just told you it was very quiet, but here we tell you the opposite. It is important to understand that in order to move the truck and the cargo it is hauling, the Tesla Semi has four engines.

When empty, just one of them will be more than enough to move the vehicle. The rest will be activated on the climbs, to pull the loads or even by movement. The 0 to 100 km/h is accomplished in just under 5 seconds without load and with a trailer in 20 seconds.

It is powered by these 4 motors that emit spaceship noise to the Tesla Semi.

Whether it’s the Tesla Semi or a competitor, the road transport sector is experiencing a new development. With a view to always reducing CO2 emissions and choosing so-called greener energy, with current and future technological advances. Electric trucks will inevitably replace the thermal ones.
